Huntley and Palmers Rare Simulated Straw Handbag ‘Canteen’ Novelty Tin 1901-1902

CollectingCollectables.com are selling this rare early Huntley and Palmers novelty tin is in the design of a simulated straw handbag which has the rare feature of a collapsible cardboard handle and clasp fastening, called ‘Canteen’. Click Here to see this novelty tin on the Huntley and Palmers web site.

From the late 1890s, tins shaped as handbags and trunks made regular appearances (for example, 'Basket', 1897). This tin was one of the first of this kind to be produced. Later versions of handbags had tin handles in comparison to this tin's handle which is made out of cardboard.

General wear, rubbing and blackening, but complete and still highly desirable

Produced in the last year of Queen Victoria's reign, this rare Huntley and Palmers' novelty tin with very rare collapsible cardboard handle is an absolute must for collectors
