Huntley and Palmers Rare Snake Skin Effect Wallet 1903 to 1904

CollectingCollectables.com are selling this very rare snakeskin effect "Wallet" biscuit tin from Huntley and Palmers. The tin is in the shape of a bag with a handle. Surfaces decorated with imitation grey snakeskin. The lid has an embossed ribbon-like design running diagonally across it. Gold clasp (now missing) and handle. A companion tin to the 'Canteen' tin of 1901-1902 and the 'Log' tin from the same period, this was the third and last in a series of bag-shaped tins issued by Huntley & Palmers.

The animal skin effect was described as 'snake skin'. 120,000 copies of this tin were produced - but the number that have survived the 100+ years and two world wars is unknown. This rare example exhibits rubbing and scratches to the tin which, due to the colouring and pattern of the tin, are not too noticeable.

This is a lovely tin that will make a great addition to a collection or an unusual present for someone special
